The Opportunity

The Pottery Store is a successful high-traffic gallery-style retail outlet with a prime location in Chemainus, the busiest tourist town on Vancouver Island. In its fifteen years of operation, The Pottery Store has established a sizable clientele from all over the world who make it a point to visit the store regularly, either in person or online. Traditionally, the Pottery Store has only sold pottery created by its owners. Now we are pleased to announce our new Guest Artist Program, which is a sales opportunity open to all Vancouver Island and Gulf Island potters.

The Program

The Guest Artist Program is open to Vancouver Island and Gulf Island potters who would be interested in access to an established retail outlet in a dynamic market. It is also an opportunity for The Pottery Store to work with new artists and to offer a greater diversity of ceramic art to its customers. Each selected Guest Artist will be showcased in a dedicated sales display in The Pottery Store for a two-month period. The Pottery Store will host an opening reception and provide invitations and advertising.

If you are interested, please follow the submission criteria below.

Submission Procedures

  1. Include your bio, ceramic resumé, a CD with photographs of at least 6 examples of your work, descriptions and sizes of each piece, as well as any process information that you deem relevant.
  2. Send your submission to: The Pottery Store, 9745 Willow Street, PO Box 406, Chemainus BC V0R 1K6, Attention: Peggy Grigor.
  3. Upon selection, we will set up a personal interview to meet you and view your work prior to final selection.
  4. If you are selected, your work will be featured in The Pottery Store for a designated two month period. You will need to provide a publicity photograph of yourself and one of a featured piece. We will use these photographs for various purposes, such as print advertising, posters, web site, etc.
  5. Selected participants will be asked to sign The Pottery Store’s standard consignment agreement which offers a 45%/55% split.
  6. The Pottery Store provides full insurance and security for all consignment items.
