Hermann draws and carves animals and whimsical figurines. He uses paints to bring his creations to life using scrap wood and working it with basic tools - Scroll saw, knife and sander.
Hermann Edler grew up in Austria, studied graphic design and European Folk Art at the University for Fine Arts in Linz. He worked as a graphic designer and art director and collected Folk Art and wooden toys from different regions of Middle Europe. In 1997, he and his family moved to Canada. Here he taught himself how to carve. His work is collected in Canada, Austria, Germany, Australia and the USA.

“Folk Art flies free when fantasy, some basic woodworking tools and a good sense of colour come together. I think I have made a good piece when people stop, look and smile. My work shows my love for the world of animals which is not so different from ours”.
